John Wayne Parr has announced that his One Championship debut bout has been agreed for December.

Parr officially signed with One back in March, but has been unable to compete due to a long-standing hip issue. While the venue and opponent are still to be announced, a planned December return would be a remarkable turnaround for the 44-year-old, following partial hip replacement surgery in June.

The Australian Muay Thai legend on Friday posted a video to Twitter on Friday, in which his surgeon gave him the all-clear to resume a full training schedule and in turn, return to the ring. One Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong in turn responded, simply tweeting “December it is.”

Parr last saw action in the boxing ring in November 2019, defeating local rival Anthony Mundine by split decision. It was Parr’s first foray into boxing in 16 years. His last kickboxing appearance was an August 2019 split decision loss, to Danilo Zanolini at Rizin 18.
